THE FINAL ACT
When the lights start to dim again and everyone's in the audience, the little Kuroro that was still on stage turns to face everyone proper, microphone in hand.
And he takes off mask.

And he takes off mask.

Blood is suppose to be thicker than water.
But it should be, "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."

Hundreds died every year before the city gained protection in exchange for providing recruits for the mob.
70% of those causalities were children under 15.
As the partnership unfolded, Meteor City's Elders developed nen powers, and the "the law of retribution" was established.
"Only life can pay for life."
"We'll accept anything you leave here, but don't ever take anything from us."
The spiders were just learning to crawl by the time the city of the fearful became the city of the feared...

I read the words on that note over and over, and I knew I could never tell anyone the words that were written there.
I won't even tell the words to you.
But you don't need me to tell you the words to know why I can't tell you.
All you need to know is that she wasn't the only one.
but you probably didn't need me to tell you that either.

They filmed it all.
They created an art piece to show the world.
It was just like our plays, our stories.
In a world where we were on the cusp of a communications revolution, where people could connect with one another at the speed of light, people all over the world could see what's shared.
But even in a world of instantaneous communication, there will be borders and regulations. So I knew those guys will look for loopholes. Evil always lurks in the darkness, and this new environment will be no different...
But we could create those loopholes.
Meteor City could become their safe haven to pass through. They've been using it as their dumping ground anyway.
But once we create that hideout, we can find the ones that we're looking for.
To ensure that what happened to Sarasa never happens again...

So I'll do my best.
He loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen, but the world didn't like happy stories.
So he became a villain to tell the story of a Spider.
A spider so scary that no one would dare enter their web except roaches who wish to kill the Spider and the Spider's home.
They wanted to lure those roaches so no one else would have to deal with them again.
...
No, that's not right.

But he still loved them anyway.
They reminded him of his friends, and all the happy times he had with them. Because he loved stories so much, they learned to love telling stories, too. In fact, they learned to love telling stories together. A troupe that went around the world telling stories to others... that was their dream even if the world didn't like happy stories.
He also made new friends. There, he found that his new friends liked the same happy stories he and his old friends liked. He thought, "It would be nice if my new friends could hear the stories that we've always wanted to perform." He thought, "They would want to listen to them." That in itself was a happy story for that boy. But he forgot that the world didn't like happy stories.
As he tried to find a way to tell the story he wanted to tell, the world decided to tell the story for him. He watched as his bonds kept being severed. One by one, the strings got cut, and he soon realized:
Not everyone will be able to perform, and not everyone will be able to watch.
The world did not like happy stories so it was better this way. He soon realized that suddenly there was nothing left of what he had loved.
So he threw that story away in hopes that he could forget it all.
...
...
But you know, he still loved happy stories. Hearing everyone's stories and how much hope they put in those stories, it reminded him of that. So even if this story is very sad, everyone still believed that he had a story.
